Week 3 Tribal Council: Who's Getting The Boot?

What We Have So Far:
We know that Jarakay will lose the Immunity Challenge and we have three logical boots.

NINA
Nina will probably be the target of the five-some alliance of Vern, Jace, Gigit, John and Marlon.

JOHN
John will probably sit out the Immunity Challenge and since he's one of the strongest in the tribe, the tribe loses IC. The only thing that can hinder him to win the game is for him to get medivacced.

GIGIT
The target of the five-some alliance of Marlon, Charisse, Nikki, Patani and Nina. Marlon would probably think that since John is weak right now, the alliance of men + Vern will be easier to break. Thus, we have a GIGIT boot on Friday.

FINAL BOOT PREDICTION: GIGIT (8-1)
BACK-UP BOOT PREDICTION: NINA (5-4)

If John gets the boot, it'd probably because of the medivac but I doubt it'd happen.

Week 2 Tribal Council: Who's Getting the Boot?

Naak is again up for the vote.
And we have the following people safe.

We have Cris and Kaye safe at least until the next week.

And then we have Rob, who we can assume to be safe since this challenge hasn't aired yet.

Then, we have Zita with this challenge, again, we'll see in the future.

JC's facial hair's grown already but he doesn't have beard yet. :)

That leaves us with Kiko, Vevherly and Emerson. I think Kiko would be a stupid choice for the boot since he's the strongest in the tribe as of now.

We have Vevherly and Emerson as boot picks.
No one trusts Emerson and he'll be booted out with a 7-1 vote.
Back-up is Vevherly with 5-3 vote.

Episode 7: Fire at Last!

NAAK HAS TO HAVE FIRE

The episode beginned with a consolation challenge for Naak. They had to remain floating for quarter of an hour with matchsticks on their mouth; each player lasting the challenge shall take their matchstick into their tribe.

Naak tribe managed to get six matchsticks after Rob and Emerson gave up.

CONFRONTATION

Cris tried to talk to Kiko to somehow explain his take on the reward challenge loss. He then asked for an apology. Even if struggling in speaking in English, he tried still to point out his reasons. He told that he's a driver and he somehow know something about the issue.

Kiko, on the other hand, stressed that he's been rowing for three years already and told him that it's no one's mistake but he insisted that he knows a lot in that field and that's why he thought he should lead the team in that challenge.

Before the confrontation intensifies into a heated argument, Rob came in between to stop the fight.

In a confessional, Zita summed it up as gutom lang 'yan.

JARAKAY FLARES

Jarakay ended up with no fire after winning the flint, since it was already night when they arrived at camp.

In the morning, Jarakay succeeded in building a fire after John and other castaways from Jarakay tried to spark their flint. With Marlon's voice commanding the castaways as if they were his waiters, they finally got to eat cooked food. However, John and other Jarakay members expressed their opinions on Marlon's bickering rather than doing tasks at hand.

ALLIANCES FORMED

Jace talked to Marlon in a possible five-way alliance between Vern, John, Charisse and the two of them.

Episode 6: Fire is Your Life in The Game

After Tribal Council

Rob is trying to assess Emerson's loyalty and trust. Apparently, there's an all-male alliance existing between Rob, Emerson, Kiko, JC and Cris. We were mislead in the past episode that its Bisaya Alliance vs. Models Alliance.

Emerson's antics were revealed after Kaye and Vevherly suddenly felt they're left out. We saw Kiko, Rob and JC having a three-person pact to the end. Emerson planted lots of schemes that were revealed out in the open after the tribal council, and his plans are now gonna haunt him. So much for him being confident with his spoiled gameplan.

Craving for Food

Marlon made his tribemates crave for Laing. All had their attention to Marlon. All were kinda stunned with them being so hungry on the island. A lot of the castaways didn't thought they'd suffer much like this. And the first treemail was read! :)

Reward: We'll Be Having Fire!

Jarakay won the challenge. This is due to Naak being disorganized and kinda all over the place. Kiko acted as the leader of the group who bragged him being a rower and literally snapped Zita out. However, Cris, the driver knows left and right too, since he's a driver. That created tension in the Naak tribe which has costed them the reward.

The funniest moment was when the castaways were shown a flint, they had no reaction. They didn't even know they're gonna have fire if ever they win that.

Analysis:

Looks like Naak's heading the Ulong/Pagong way.

Players Who Are In Danger:

Episode 5: The First Cut is the Deepest: Chev Macias Dances Out of Survivor Philippines

In a unanimous vote, 26 year-old ukay-ukay owner and former GRO Chevyline "Chev" Macias was the first castaway to be booted off Survivor Philippines: Thailand.

Blindsided, the Bisayang Palaban ended her Survivor journey with, "I hate you all guys!" after receiving unexpected votes even with those who share the same dialect as her, whom she thought were her allies.

She blamed Kaye Alipio for the immunity challenge loss, and targetted basketball hunk JC Tiuseco too but it was her physicalities and annoying attitude plus communication barrier that lead her to elimination.

Episode 4: Let's Get Ready to Shuffle

The tribes were shuffled. Yes, this early.

Some castaways were swapped to the other tribe. GMA pre-determinedly announced the new tribes. Naak now has Emerson, Kiko, Cris, Rob, Kaye, JC, Chev, Zita and Vheverly. Patani, Nina, Charisse, Vern, Jace, Nikki, Gigit, Marlon, John are now members of the Jaracay Tribe.

In the end, Jaracay won Immunity.

Eligible for Elimination:
Kiko, Cris, JC, Emerson, Zita or Chev.

Zita and Chev are members of the female tribe which has the majority in the tribe.
Though JC made the tribe lose this challenge, it'll probably be Emerson who'll take the fall since he also slowed down the team, taking time to go to the challenge area.

Cris and JC were seen with more facial hairs so we can scrap them out this early.
Zita can be scrapped from elimination too since she's the nanay of the group.

That leaves us to Kiko or Emerson. Kiko is much needed for challenges.

Emerson is my boot prediction for tonight.
My back-up prediction would be Chev for her intro shot be lacking of any clues and for her annoying Bisaya thing going on her.

Castaway Analysis

Naak
Charisse is clearly the leader of Naak, while Zita is the nanay type. Patani is gonna be the entertainer of the tribe.

Vern turns out to be the athletic female with a soft side. Vevherly turns out to be a tough castaway, too.

Kaye is still unnoticed. Nikki is the lazy-type Shawna Mitchell-ish kind.

Nina has too much confessionals. *shouting early boot signal*

Jaracay
Marlon is a whiner, a sucker ass pig. Satsat lang ng satsat.
At first Gigit stood out as a leader but turned out to be disappointing after backing out and giving it to Kiko.

We have a models kind-of alliance in the male group: John, Jace, JC, Kiko. Kiko seemed so fake. Jace and JC seemed to be at the top of the pack, they both have winner edits.

Cris, Marlon and Gigit are kinda the ones who're in trouble.

GMA-7 has finally revealed the identities of the 18 castaways (originally 16) that will compete for the three million pesos cash prize—tax free—in the first-ever Survivor Philippines, hosted by Paolo Bediones.

Billboard Unveiling Postponed; Cast Revealed in 24 Oras

An insider's guide to Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines brings together 18 strangers from all over the country and divides them into two tribes.

Tribe Jarakay (which is the Thai word for crocodile) carries the blue color while Tribe Naak (which is the Thai word for snake) carries the red color.

For identification, each castaway has to wear a buff, an elastic material with the logo and color of their tribe.

Armed only with one machete for each tribe, the 18 castaways have to live in the island for 39 days. To survive, they need to build their own shelter, scavenge for their own food and protect themselves from nature’s elements.

Everyday they will receive a treemail that will provide riddles, clues or instructions about the challenges for the day.

Each challenge is designed to test the castaways' strength, endurance, problem solving skills and teamwork. One day they might be made to stand for hours on a wobbling piece of wood then they might be tasked to solve a mind-boggling jigsaw puzzle. Most of the time, they would have to rely on teamwork to win group challenges that would decide their tribe's fate.

For a castaway, winning means everything.

Winning a reward means getting basic necessities or luxuries that are both so rare in their life as castaways like getting pillows for a more comfortable sleep or enjoying a full course meal to make up for days without food.

But more than a reward, if there's one thing all castaways would fight for, it's winning immunity.

Immunity means having protection from eviction.

Without immunity, one can only hope for the best when it's time for the most nerve-wracking moment in Survivor: the Tribal Council.

This is where each castaway's fate is decided. It doesn’t matter if you’re the strongest or the smartest in the tribe because it all boils down to two things: the motives and strategies of each castaway.

The last few castaways voted out of the Tribal Council are the ones who will compose the Jury.

When the castaways are down to the final two, it is the Jury who will vote for the winner.

Expect a mixture of action, drama, suspense, romance and comedy as each castaway does anything and everything to claim the P3 million peso grand prize and the distinct honor of being the first ever Pinoy Solve Survivor.

Other interesting bits:

Exile:
The biggest twist of Survivor: Gabon involves Exile (formerly Exile Island). "When you go to Exile this time you can either get a clue that will help you find the hidden immunity idol, or you can get 'instant comfort' - a nice thing to sleep on, some food, some fruit," explains host Jeff Probst. "Depending upon the time, we'll make the temptation bigger and bigger. The idea was to see if anybody would be dumb enough to choose comfort over the only thing that guarantees you to stick in the game, which is immunity." Okay, did it work? "By the time this season is over, you can make the case that maybe this is the dumbest team when it comes to idol play."

Hidden Idols:
The show's addition of a hidden immunity idol (which Probst describes as "one of the best inventions we've ever come up with") has also prompted some of the game's most ingenious strategic moves. In this respect, Probst promises that viewers can expect more of the same from Survivor: Gabon – Earth's Last Eden. "This season, the idols get played in a way they’ve never been played before," he reveals. "It astounded me what happened this time. This has never happened. It's that power of the idol that confuses everybody. Nobody's quite sure how to handle it. It gets to a point where it's almost too much power and it does you in. I find that fascinating. This is the one thing that can keep you safe in the game and yet – if you're not careful – it’s the thing that will get you voted out the fastest.'

Tribal Pick 'Em
The contestants of Survivor: Gabon will be divided up into two tribes at the very outset by a good old fashioned schoolyard pick 'em, which will immediately lead to the contestants' first challenge.

Showmances
No hardcore "showmances" this time around, Probst does tease that one player proves particularly popular: "Marcus, the doctor from Georgia — one of the most arrogant guys that we've had on the show — he at one point had three people after him. And not only women."

Good Vs. Evil Theme
Marooned in the wilderness, 18 individuals will embark on an amazing African adventure, battling extreme conditions and interacting with wildlife such as elephants and gorillas, while attempting to forge alliances with strangers from diverse backgrounds. "In a strange coincidence to Earth's Last Eden - good vs. evil emerges as a major theme this season. I think the audience will quickly identify with one group or the other," host Jeff Probst teases. Will the group of deceitful castaways outlast those individuals who play from their heart or will the forces of evil prevail? Will temptations interfere with logical decision-making? More importantly, which side will come out on top?

18 Castaways to Compete in Survivor Philippines

Yes, you read it right.

Eighteen castaways, instead of the original sixteen (announced earlier) will be pitted against each other vying for the title of the 1st Pinoy Sole Survivor.

Also, the network has revealed that the show was filmed at Koh Tarutao, Thailand. This is the same beach where the fifth season of the US version was shot.

As of now, the filming has finished and we already have the Final 2. Fortunately for GMA, no one of the cast has been leaked or confirmed yet. There are still no boot spoilers nor Final 4 spoilers.

The show will air 30 minutes from Monday to Thursday. The Reward Challenge will be shown Mondays while the Immunity Challenge will be shown Wednesdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will act as build-up episodes. (I still prefer a once-a-week schedule) Fridays will be Tribal Council days.

Paolo Bediones Talks About Survivor Philippines

Last week pa nagsimulang dumating sa GMA Network ang mga nakapasa sa auditions ng Survivor Philippines mula sa Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, Dagupan, Baguio, at ang mga nakapasa rin sa SM North Edsa at SM Manila. Hindi pa nakukuha ng PEP ang exact numbers ng mga nakapasa sa first round ng audition ng Survivor Philippines, pero ayon sa host ng reality show na si Paolo Bediones ay puwedeng umabot ito from 120 to 130 participants.

Ang Survivor Philippines ay franchise ng sikat na reality show sa Amerika at iba't ibang panig ng mundo, ang Survivor.

"Magugulat ka talaga sa dami ng mga nag-apply for audition," sabi ni Paolo sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "Pero nakakalungkot nga lang na hindi naman sila makakapasang lahat. Matindi rin kasi ang pagdadaanan nilang process bago talaga mapili ang 16 castaways na susubok sa reality show."

THE PREPARTIONS. Ano ang paghahandang gagawin ng mga nakapasang contestants?

"They will undergo different tests and orientations. Bukod sa physical and medical tests, dadaan din sila sa psychological test. Ang orientations nila will include ang mga possible na mangyayari sa site-kung may snakes, crocodiles, kahit ‘yong pagdating ng monsoon rains, kung ano ang gagawin nila, just in case na may ganoong calamity na dumating.

"Number one na magiging problem nila ay food, dahil hindi ito laging available. Kailangang paghirapan nila para sila kumain. Maraming isda, pero sila ang huhuli at magluluto. Sa tubig, may deep well naman doon, may mga fruit-bearing trees, pero dapat ang kainin nila ay ‘yong mga familiar fruits lang sa kanila.

"Hindi rin sila dapat magreklamo, dahil kung gusto nilang manalo, dapat ay gawin na lang nila lahat ng challenges na ibibigay sa kanila. But of course, siniguro na namin na safe ang lugar dahil nakipag-usap na kami sa government ng country na pupuntahan namin. Kaya lang, hindi pa rin natin alam kung may unavoidable circumstances na mangyayari. Pero naka-ready naman kami dahil walang available communication, maliban via satellite for emergency purposes," mahabang paliwanag ni Paolo.

THE LOCATION. Saan ba gagawin ang kauna-unahang Survivor Philippines?

"May napili na kami, somewhere in South Asia. Pero hindi namin puwedeng sabihin kung saan exactly ‘yon," saad niya.

Paano kung ipagsabi ng mapipiling 16 castaways ang location nila?

"May contract silang pipirmahan na hindi nila puwedeng sabihin kung saan sila pupunta," sagot ni Paolo. "In fact, hindi nila malalaman kung napili sila dahil tatawagan lang sila two weeks bago sila umalis. Nasa kanila ‘yon kung sasabihin nila, dahil puwede silang matanggal o mapalitan kapag nalaman namin na nagsalita sila. Nakakatawa nga na kung saan-saan ang sinasabi nilang lugar na nasa mga blogs sa Internet."

THE HOST. Ano naman ang paghahandang ginagawa ni Paolo bilang host ng Survivor Philippines?

"Napanood ko ang 16 episodes ng American Survivor at talaga namang matindi ang pinagdaanan nila. Kaya kahit ako, kailangang handa ako. I need to last longer, kailangang malakas talaga ang stamina ko. Kaya nagsimula na akong mag-undergo ng cardio, ng workout.

"Hindi lang preparation to be physically fit ang pinaghahandaan ko. Kasama rito ay gabi-gabing prayers na hindi Niya ako pababayaan at palakasin lagi ang katawan ko. Hindi kasi ako puwedeng magkasakit sa duration ng contest. Hindi ako puwedeng magkaroon ng injuries dahil makaka-hamper ‘yon sa trabaho ko bilang host. Ako lang kasi ang puwedeng mag-judge sa ginagawa nila. Hindi ko sila puwedeng pabayaan. Nakatutok sa kanila ang eight big cameras and many handycams kaya mare-record ang lahat ng gagawin nila.

"I will bring everything na kailangan ko—my laptop, my personal camera dahil kailangan kong i-record lahat ‘yon, wala akong PA [personal assistant]. I will be staying in a small, abandoned hotel. At ang lamang ko lang siguro sa kanila, yung makakaligo ako, can eat three meals a day but not in excess.

"I will be a different Paolo, strict, I cannot hang out or chat with them [castaways]. Kakausapin ko lang sila kapag nagbibigay ako ng instructions. If may castaway na hindi na makaya ang challenges at gusto nang umuwi, hindi namin sila pipigilan. Pero ipapaalaala namin sa kanila ang three-million cash prize, tax free, na matatanggap nila. Kung mayroong mae-eliminate, by batch sila uuwi. Mauunang uuwi yung first six castaways na mae-evict."

THE BIBLE. Inamin ni Paolo na napakahigpit ng bible ng Survivor at hindi nila ‘yon pwedeng baguhin o palitan. Kailangang mag-stick sila to the letter.

"Ang nakakatuwa lang," sabi ni Paolo, "dumating dito sa Pilipinas si Julia Dick, she's British, at consultant ng Castaway Productions. Natuwa kami nang sabihin niyang ang Pilipinas lang ang only country na naka-prepare ng lahat ng requirements nila within four months. Samantalang yung ibang countries daw, pinakamabilis silang naka-prepare ay nine months.

"Siya ang nag-approve ng lahat ng gagawin namin, kahit ang backgrounds ng show. Natuwa rin siya na sa pagpi-present namin, kasama na rin dito ang lists of advertisers. Hindi siguro kami nahirapan dahil nasanay na kami sa Extra Challenge at mahusay naman ang marketing department ng GMA Network," pagmamalaki pa ng TV host.

Isa pang itinanong ng PEP kay Paolo ay kung paano kung may magka-inlaban among the castaways at mayroong mabuntis.

"Hindi mo naman mapipigilan kung may mai-in love dahil day in and day out, sila ang magkakasama. Kung may mabuntis, hindi naman siguro siya manganganak na hindi pa tapos ang show dahil 39 days lamang naman tatagal ang contest," natatawang wika ni Paolo.

Mauunang umalis si Paolo at ang production staff ng Survivor Philippines kesa sa mga castaways. Sa June 18 na ang alis nila. After two weeks, saka pa lang susunod ang napiling 16 castaways.

Nalaman din namin kay Paolo na sa mga maiiwanang castaways na finalists, hindi nila malalaman kung sino sa kanila ang mananalo sa pagbalik nila sa Pilipinas. Live daw ang announcement ng winner sa final episode ng reality show gaya ng ginagawa talaga sa Survivor.

Survivor Philippines Airs on September 8

On September 8, the reality show that started it all will hit the Pinoy silverscreen, as Survivor Philippines debuts in the GMA 7 primetime block.

Let's just hope this won't turn into something GMA 7 has been doing to its franchise shows. Expectations are high. GMA 7, this is your last chance to prove that you can handle a reality show well.
